This week I'm chatting to Vanessa of Cookies and Crumbs Melbourne. Cookies and Crumbs Melbourne specialises in custom made cookies, cakes and dessert tables for occasions such as kids birthday parties, Christenings, baby showers, engagements parties, hens parties, bridal showers, anniversaries, fathers day and mothers day.
What inspired you to start your business, and what was the first thing you did to begin the process?
Cookies & Crumbs was born 5 years ago whilst on maternity leave with my first born. I wanted to create a beautiful first birthday for my son. I began making cookies and learning all skills necessary for making desserts by watching lots of YouTube videos whilst my baby took naps. I then began the baking process and absolutely loved it. I found it very therapeutic, loved the creative process and began exploring the different colour palettes in dessert form. I then set up an instagram and the rest is history!
What inspires you?
Many things inspire me in my everyday life. I am obsessed with colour matching, ombre tones and I am often inspired by my love for fashion, makeup and decor. I draw much inspiration from some of my favourite fashion designers and the way they incorporate colour in their collections.
What is the best business advice you have ever received?
The best business advice I have ever received was from my Grandpa. He would always say "never surrender"!!!!
What are your favourite things to do to take a break?
When I am taking a break you will find me travelling with my family and making memories, shopping in my favourites stores and spending time with my husband and kids.
