The term 'Galentine’s Day' was first coined in the popular American comedy show Parks and Recreation in 2010 when the character Leslie Knope declared, ‘What's Galentine's Day? Oh, it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies’.

The concept soon caught on in the United States and then worldwide, and it is becoming increasingly popular in Aus too!
